It's no secret that we love books around here, and Silas has quickly acquired a collection comparable to ours in size. This week he and I walked over to the bookstore to browse the children's section and scope out some fun looking books. These are a few we liked and just may have to buy.

We received the Charley Harper 123s board book in our September Citrus Lane box, and it's one of my favorites thus far. I highly recommend this monthly subscription box, and you can try it out for half off the first month! Silas is still too young to really get excited about receiving a box of goodies every month, but my excitement makes up for it.

Dear Silas,

Today you are eight months old, and boy are you wild. So wild. I think your extra craziness is because you are teething. Papa thinks you are frustrated that you can't crawl yet. You are still moving backwards and in circles. Not having to chase you around just yet is okay with me though. This month you discovered the screech, and you really enjoy practicing. I'm sure our neighbors are thrilled. You also fight sleep like none other. This is usually when the screech rears it's ugly head. You still love when papa plays the guitar and makes up songs for you. Boob and guitar are just about the only things that will calm you down when you're having a fit. Papa has started a new bedtime ritual of shaking your crazies out. It seems to help. I think this has been a big growing month for you, and no matter how nutty you are or become, we love you more than anything ever.

A few things you're loving this month-
Watching The Colbert Report
Eating hummus
Reading Halloween stories
Riding in the shopping cart
Waking mama up by pulling her hair & poking her face
Hanging upside-down

To the moon & back

Today we took a scenic drive to see the changing colors and check out a local apple orchard/pumpkin patch/winery/petting zoo/haunted house. Phew there was lots to do, but we only did a little. Papa and I tasted the wine, we bought some doughnuts, you picked an apple and played in the dirt. For some reason you were not in to picture taking this particular day. You would barely look at the camera and smiles were not the most plentiful. Luckily you're so cute you don't have to smile to take a good picture. This trip was probably more for me and papa than you anyways. Next year we'll do the corn maze and haunted house and maybe even a pony ride. And maybe next year you'll smile a bit more, k?

P.S. Happy birthday to aunt Dawnie! :)
