Dear Silas,

You are so old. You are growing way too fast. I really cannot believe you're almost one! Soon to be no longer an infant. Whoa. I've been busy planning your party. It's going to be in Macomb so that we can celebrate with family. You are up to three teefers. You haven't quite taken a first step, but it feels so close. I'm thinking by your birthday you'll be stumbling around. You enjoy 'reading' and 'rearranging' books, yelling and screeching at the top of your lungs, bobbing to music, 'playing' with the kitty and generally getting into things you shouldn't. You do not enjoy sleep, being contained in the living room by the baby gate, the word 'no', or getting your diaper changed. I've started working on a book of your first year, hoping to have it completed by your birthday. We love you forever and ever.

It's a little less than two months until Si's birthday, so I'm starting to gather fun gift and party ideas. I know he won't really remember this birthday, and he will probably care more about the wrapping paper than actual presents, but his birthday is for me, the mama, too (and papa I suppose ;). It's a celebration of his life, my giving birth, and us becoming a family. I'm so excited we may even have two parties, one in Michigan with friends and one in Illinois with family. Here are a few of the things I've been eyeing for him.

We'll just have to wait and see what the birthday fairy brings!!

Dear Silas,

You are a whopping 10 months old! I cannot believe I'm starting to plan your first birthday party. Within the last month you have started crawling everywhere, pulling yourself up and walking along anything and everything. Your first two teeth also popped up, and they are giving you quite the time. We spent Thanksgiving in Macomb and your first Christmas in Florida. You have been such a great traveller and for that I am very thankful. You are still a fighter when it comes to sleep, and the transition to the crib isn't exactly happening yet because of this. Breastfeeding is going well, except for those two times when you bit me. You are growing and changing so fast it's unbelievable. Papa and I love you more than ever you crazy little beast.

The past few weeks have flown by. We have been busy hosting guests, traveling home and reaching milestones. Silas can crawl now! See pic above! There is no stopping him. He can also pull himself up and walk along the furniture. This all happened within the past couple weeks. It is so crazy how fast he is growing. After Christmas it will be time to start planning his first birthday party! Fighting sleep and staying asleep is becoming more and more of an issue. Most mornings I wake up to Si staring at or poking me in the face. He's also recently discovered his voice, err, more so the fact that he can yell. He likes to get realllllly loud at inappropriate times. Which is funny and embarrassing. We're still breast feeding. Still no teeth. Still loves listening to papa play guitar. We are traveling driving to Florida for the holidays to visit family and I'm a little nervous for the really long car trip. What do you do in the car with a 9 month old for 16 hours?! We are breaking it up into two days, but still. I think I need an iPad. Hopefully next month's update won't be so late. Papa and I love you forever and ever.
